Poem: The thoughts that shake you / the love that makes you

June 30, 2018

When I loved you you were only you. Free to stretch and hold me between your fingers not bound by wires behind your back, tied to responsibility or the heart of another / I could never love another, so heavy, adorned with complication and wracked with the wretchedness of life in his heart, in his face / the feeling is engraved, the feeling passes pain, the cold is your friend, I know it / on your face, in the frowns there are deep crevices of emptiness, where you wonder where you’ve gone and who you are. I just want to hold you because I know.

Taken from Sadness and Short Bliss.
