If Jordan isn’t on your bucket list, I really recommend adding it, like now. As I will have mentioned elsewhere Petra is one of those rare places that completely surpass your expectations. You think it will be amazing, but it completely blows your mind.
From the pink sand and multi-coloured rocks to hearing your voice echo in the wind and edging your body past foot-long width rocks – it was a wave of senses, a must see for anyone who has the opportunity to go.
I opted for an intensive hike, which allowed me to explore for 6-7 hours. I am afraid of heights, and it can always be a bit difficult for me to hike in places with little foot space and so high up, as I experienced during this hike. But the views were worth it and the people with me very encouraging!
Our tour guide was hugely knowledgeable and even showed a different route to the typical to explore Petra, his specialism is biblical tours, however he does do bespoke tours if wanted. Although I will link to the company below, if you want to specifically go with the tour guide I had (hugely recommend) contact him here, his name is Fadi.

After a long day… have a drink in the oldest bar in the world
Cave Bar: the oldest bar in the world, which is of course, you guessed it, is a cave. The intimate location played live music and had little coves where you could sit down with your party. Shisha is really big in Jordan, and a typical local activity. This bar offers shisha as well as normal alcoholic drinks. The place stay open till 2.30am, but can close as late as 4am on summer nights! Click below for directions.
PRICES/ MENU
As I did the hike through work we didn’t receive any information about the prices! However if you contact Amani tours, I’m sure they’ll be happy to let you know.
