Barcelona: photography tour (for professionals or amateurs)

November 21, 2016

I’m not a photographer. I like taking photos as much as the next person but my expertise probably ends with the settings of an Instagram filter, and a naturally beautiful subject.

However, for my last birthday my dear friend, knowing I had my sights on Barcelona in the near future, bought me a tour called Snapshots of Barcelona, with Urban Adventures (Intrepid) valid for a year – so I took the opportunity to use it on my recent trip to Barcelona.

Snapshots of Barcelona was a hands down highlight of my trip. Due to the fact that I travelled in mid November, I was lucky enough to have the mesmerising guide, Alicia to myself – an Andalusian born, Barcelona local with an infectious passion for interesting photography. She wasn’t at all disheartened that I turned up with my iPhone 6s (or at least she didn’t show it) and said that we could just focus on creativity.

Note: if you come with a professional camera she offers you tips on how to use that better, so you can think of it as a little masterclass too!

The tour lasted a very short three hours, I honestly didn’t feel the time go by. She allowed me space to capture things as I wished, and then we would regroup and retry with her insights and tips. I left the tour feeling really different about photography. I knew that naturally, I had to take photos, to add colour to the places I write about on this blog, but I never thought hard about how I captured things, and how I could make various subjects just that bit more interesting. The guide did a brilliant job of bringing out my creativity, and I was really pleased with the end product, at being able to stretch myself.

PRICES

47 Euros.

Of course, as I received this as a present I was less focused on the price, but it has make me think differently about how I view tours. I would book this again and pay the price (although I know there are cheaper touring options out there!) as I’ve had such a good experience with this company.

DIRECTIONS

We met at El Born centre, and finished at La Boqueria market. The route below is not the one we took.
