San Andrés, Colombia: El Viajero hostel

March 31, 2016

El Viajero, I’m sure somewhere I still have the branded sticker they gave me, and much like it, my memories have stuck despite the wearing quality of time. This is a super hostel, not only for atmosphere but facilities too.

El Viajero can work for the diversest of parties. Alone great! I met a great friend there who I spent the rest of my San Andres stay with. A couple and want privacy? Great! They have a private room for two, double or single bed occupancy.

One of the great things about this hostel is its kitchen. You can cook yourself a meal if you are low on cash. It’s also a very sociable feature; many people congregate there for feast before heading out.

It also boasts a sitting room with a large TV and sofas, a large breakfast eating space that hosts events at night and Internet café space. Breakfast is included in your stay and all rooms have AC. The hostel hosts dance classes such as Salsa, Reggae, Bachata and Merengue; and can also help book your activities, such as car rental, diving and kite-surfing courses, boat tours etc.

You can book directly on their website, call, or when you arrive at the hostel, but bear in mind it may be already be booked up! (especially on weekends)

Prices start from 30,000 Colombian pesos ($10|£7) per night.

San Andrés is a small island. You can get to El Viajero very easily from the airport either by taxi or walking. It’s also 5 minutes walk from the beach.

Here are the directions from the hostel: take las Americas Avenue for 700 meters until you get to 20 de Julio Avenue where you have to turn right and walk 300 meters until the hostel. (20 minutes). Please also see the Google route below:

Just been told about this island recently.
Thanks for the heads up on the hostel. I hear it’s a lot like Belize.
